Our Story
Aerial Roots Theater is a vibrant theater company dedicated to showcasing South Asian talent. Our productions are a fusion of traditional storytelling with a contemporary twist, offering a unique and immersive experience for our audience. We aim to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of South Asia through our performances, creating a platform for diverse voices and narratives to be heard and appreciated.

Meet the Team
Anjana Menon
Artistic Director
Anjana began her theater journey in Chennai, India, as a core member of the company Masquerade
In recent years, Anjana is a vastly experienced actor and director on the Houston scene
In this role, she will also bring experience as Artistic Director at Shunya, as co-
producer with Next Iteration
Ensemble and in the leadership
team at Occtarine Accord
Nidhi Verghese
Programming Director
Nidhi’s journey in theater began as an actor in various productions with the Madras Players and Masquerade, in her native Chennai.
Professionally, Nidhi has worked as a copywriter at Oglivy and is a previous recipient of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship for Screenwriting; her scripts have been optioned by Ashutosh Gowariker and Leena Yadav
In addition to writing, Nidhi brings a stage management background to guide the programming at Aerial Roots

Taher Lokhandwala
Strategy and Operations Director
Taher has a lifelong passion for acting and has appeared on the Houston stage in several shows, most recently as the lead in A Nice Indian Boy with Shunya Theater
In his day job, Taher is a consultant and has helped advise multiple Fortune 100 companies; he will bring this experience to drive Third Space’s strategic vision and operations
